Today is the day.

It’s already started differently: I usually have my coffee and check the news first, but today I went out with Atos in the morning before it got too hot. The dog goes his own way, and I follow him, thinking about the decade I’ve spent on Hive.

No matter how I look at it, or from whatever perspective I view it, ten years is a long time. Even the world wars were shorter :)

During that time, my kids have grown up and become (almost) independent.

I’ve always just been a blogger—writing about what’s going on in my life, posting my photos, and sharing music I like. And I’m still doing that now, by the way :)

I remember @steevc, @uwelang, and @melinda010100 from back in the days when I was on Tsū. It was a good idea - rewarding users for their content. Still, Tsū was a classic example of naivety, showing just how difficult it is to build a sustainable social network when the main motivation is money rather than community. It went bankrupt within two years because it could no longer cover its hardware costs.

I think I was following @uwelang here—actually on Steemit at the time. Blockchains were all the rage back then. For a month or so, I just watched what was going on; I didn’t really understand anything. In any case, my learning curve has always been slow. But I wanted to see how much my posts were actually worth. At first, nothing. Over time, that changed; I realized that it took a little more—namely, communication with others in the community.

I remember that it wasn’t possible to post videos at first, but that changed over time. I do have a bit of a bitter aftertaste about this, though: I posted over 100 music videos on Dtube, and now they’re inaccessible because the platform has gone in a completely different direction—I don’t even know if it’s still up and running. All that effort went to waste.

All of this is now much easier with Threespeak and other Hive front-ends through which you can upload multimedia content.

I experienced the euphoria of earnings, ad bots, Justin Sun, and the Hive hard fork when a portion of the users went their own way. I also remember when Hive was worth $3.42 sometime in late November 2021. There was more optimism back then. Now those are unattainable dreams, even though, technologically speaking, the blockchain itself—with all its features and services—is much better than it was back then. And yet it isn’t going anywhere; in fact, it’s spiraling toward complete worthlessness. I don't know why this is the case, despite all the developers’ efforts.

Times have changed; “blockchain” is no longer a magic word—it’s been replaced by AI, which will (or has already?) taken over everywhere.

Especially when it comes to content creation. We bloggers are becoming obsolete, a sort of relic of a bygone era. Maybe AI will help us with the transformation (which will have to happen), or maybe it will simply swallow us whole—I can’t say for sure. This brings to mind a saying I’ve been repeating for a few days now whenever I comment on something:

We are the Borg. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

But no need to panic :)

I’m not as pessimistic as some might think; after all, after ten years, I’m still here, the community on Hive is still alive, and that’s the added value—and the only thing that matters. Over the years, I’ve never even considered quitting or going somewhere else. Where would I even go? There’s no haven.

Thanks for reading!

Welcome to the decade club. This thing has lasted longer than a lot of other platforms, but anything that is off-chain may not be permanent. I had stuff on dtube, dsound and possibly others that is gone. What really matters is the community and Hivers are generally a great bunch of people who care about making something special. That keeps me coming back.

Wow, it felt like taking a quick tour of your 10-year journey. Hmm, over the last 10–15 years, we’ve truly seen technology go from zero to hero—and now, there’s AI. I can't speak for other platforms, but here on Hive, the community, the users, and the unspoken bonds between them really matter.

Congratulations on these 10 years within our ecosystem. It’s clear how much experience you’ve gained by navigating each of the most important stages over the years. What strikes me as most significant is that you haven’t turned a blind eye—you’ve been aware of what’s happened, the things that have contributed to our growth, and others that were perhaps unfortunate for all of us.

I hope, just as you do, that we can continue to move forward and grow despite those other technologies that are currently dominating the news.

Congratulations again on your anniversary. Hugs!

Awesome 👍. A big congratulations 🎉👏 to you. Wishing you more years of celebration on the Hive blockchain ecosystem.Cheers!!!

Namaste 🙏, Really enjoyed reading this. 10 years 🤩is an incredible journey. So many memories, changes and challenges, but the Hive community keeps us here. Here’s to many more years on Hive! 🐝. !INDEED ! PIZZA !LADY

Congratulations on your 10 year odyssey. I was on tsu too lol. It's funny how so many of us ended up on here.

I was thinking about this today. What happens if hive goes to zero?

I think I'd probably spin up a witness node along with a few other people and just carry on.

Like most people here I've created and run my own websites but something always went wrong...usually the hosting entity went broke or similar.

With hive it's different. Even if just two people run the infrastructure the chain continues. Maybe we can use AI to vibe code anything that needs fixing?

Happy 10th Hive anniversary!!! You are one of the OGs of this chain, and one of those that I'm glad I met IRL too! This place is much more than just a blockchain, much more than just another social media website, and HIVE is much more than just another token... People like you are proof of that! Community, journey, and fun first; all the rest will come together...

For another decade on HIVE! Cheers! 🍻

Congratulations on 10 years! We have seen so much, and been though good times, and bad.

We have all come a long way together and I completely believe that we have a long way left to go! I will be here no matter what the price does.

Congratulations on these first ten years!

mimster :

Wow, 10 long years and you achieved a lot. Congratulations.🎉🎉🎉

November 2021 was when my brother introduced me to Hive and since then what I'm witnessing is hive price going downhill. Watching my wallet on ecency, and I wonder where the fraction of hive I make everyday going because it isn't increasing not even slowly. Instead it's going backwards.🤔 I wonder most of the time, what am I doing here.😂 My motivation is seeing you and others like my brothers who've been here for ages and still I see you around. Big thanks for that. 🫶✨ Way to go! 💪

What happened to Threespeak? The app no longer exists on Google Play. And the old one stopped working. I thought it is dead along with Dtube.

Wow ‼️ This sounds a bit scary; the future is apparently bleak but I won't give up. At least, that's one of the lessons I learn from the book I'm currently reading (the 7 laws of success). If you must achieve success, don't give up; "perseverance" is the key word. I think Hive will bounce.

Congratulations on your 10th anniversary! I hope for many more years of prosperity.
