Beer Tasting 🍺 ZUBR Grand 🍻 Slash IPA
Hello, beer lovers! 🍻
How are you? I'm back on the island; it’s not particularly hot anymore, and it gets dark quickly after sunset. We’ll mostly be resting. The only thing I have left to do today is taste a beer. Yes, it's #beersaturday.
And I have two cold cans in this late afternoon at the island of Pag, one Czech and one French! I’m ready to empty them and share the experience with you.

ZUBR Grand
Brewed by Pivovar Zubr, Přerov 2, Olomoucký kraj, Czech Republic. Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 4.8% ABV, IBU N/A. Bohemian Pilsner style beer.
What do the Master Brewers say?
A light lager with a fuller body and deeper color, distinguished by its pronounced, delightful bitterness. We hop each batch four times according to a First Republic-era recipe, using precise timing and quantities, which allows the beer to retain the pleasant aroma of freshly picked hops.

The beer is a clear, dark orange color with very little head. It has a hoppy aroma. It goes down smoothly; on the palate, I detect a solid hop bitterness and a slightly bitter caramel flavor. The bitterness lingers in the finish for quite some time.
A beer that’s both refreshing and easy to drink! Well-balanced, full-bodied, and with a distinct hoppy bitterness—it’s quadruple-hopped according to an old recipe, which gives it more flavor than the average industrial lager. It’s a new beer here; I found it at the local Merkator store, and I’ll pick up a few more when I get the chance. The price is €1.90.

Splash IPA
Brewed by Brasserie Licorne Saverne, France Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 5.9% ABV, IBU 30. IPA style.
What do the Master Brewers say?
A golden beer that’s crisp on the palate, with floral and honeyed aromas, along with hoppy and malty notes and a moderate, well-balanced bitterness. A characterful IPA.

The beer is golden yellow in color, with an average head that dissipates quickly. It has a fruity aroma, with citrus notes standing out. It goes down smoothly; I detect a moderate bitterness on the palate, along with notes of citrus and peaches. I don’t taste the alcohol, even though the alcohol content is higher than usual. The bitterness lingers in the aftertaste.
Drinkable and refreshing! Distinctly fruity flavor. The bitterness seems a bit too mild for an IPA to me; I’d say it’s more like a session IPA, a hazy ale, or a fruity pale ale with lots of fruit and less bitterness than I’d expect. But that doesn’t mean it’s bad. On the contrary! It’s very tasty and fruity, and there’s even a hint of IPA bitterness. Perfect for beginners just entering the world of IPAs. It’s not available locally; I found it at an E.Leclerc supermarket in Ljubljana. Price: €3.20.
