New Tunes 🎵 🎸 17.4.2026 🎤🎺

Hello music lovers! 🎶

Music Friday and #newtunes! A fresh selection of music featuring well-known, lesser-known, and even unknown artists who are trying to get a few minutes of our time. This week, I’ve been looking back more than I’d like; the recycling of older content and styles is becoming increasingly common - perhaps this also points to future trends! Is there even a future global hit among them? You won't know until you listen :)

Eight songs for curious music lovers! If you like something, you can dig deeper to find more detailed information. If you don't like, skip it.

The Hives - Hate To Say I Told You So

We’ll start with The Hives, a Swedish garage rock band from Fagersta that’s been around since 1993. I’ve mentioned them several times in #newtunes, mainly because of their authenticity, and there’s no reason not to mention them again :) Their sound is raw, fast, with excellent riffs and arrogant lyrics that often sound like "we're the best and we know it." To date, they've released eight studio albums, the latest being 'The Hives Forever Forever The Hives,' last year. The song “Hate To Say I Told You So” is actually from 2000 and became a huge hit; I’m mentioning it now because a live recording from Avicii Arena in Stockholm was released a few days ago. After thirty years in the business, they’re still as sharp, fresh, and fast as they were in the beginning.

The Afghan Whigs - House of I (Official Video)

The Afghan Whigs, American dinosaurs I’d almost forgotten about over the past few years. They hail from Cincinnati and were formed in 1986, so this year marks their 40th anniversary. To date, they have released nine studio albums, the latest in 2022. They are considered one of the most influential bands of the ’90s, blending grunge/indie rock with elements of soul, blues, R&B, and post-punk. Their sound is dark, passionate, and often very personal. The song 'House of I' is their latest single from last week and a preview of their upcoming, as-yet-untitled album. A powerful rock anthem with thunderous drums, cutting guitars, and vocals full of passion, screams, and swagger. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lW3B6ZiCFRw

🎵 🎧 🎵

Temples - Vendetta (Official Video)

Temples are an English rock band from Kettering. They’ve been playing since 2012 and have released four studio albums to date. They represent neo-psychedelia, a blend of glam rock, dream pop, and electronic dance elements. A rich, colorful sound with hypnotic, dreamy melodies reminiscent of Tame Impala. The song “Vendetta” is a single and a preview of their fifth studio album, Bliss, which is set to be released at the end of June this year. Even more so than in their previous work, they’ve delved into dance and electronic music - think Daft Punk - through their own psychedelic filter.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Haris Pilton & Balkan Voodoo – Welcome To The Circus

Haris Pilton is a producer, dub artist, and musical visionary from Slovenia who blends reggae and dub with Balkan and Gypsy influences. He has been crafting this unique blend of sounds for over 20 years. His music sounds as if he’d taken Jamaican dub and run it through Balkan villages, Gypsy brass bands, and the Slovenian underground scene - full of powerful rhythms, brass sections, Gypsy melodies, and deep dub effects (echo, delay, drops).

The song 'Welcome To The Circus' is the first single from his latest album, Gipsy & Balkan Dub, released this past March. Very danceable, very reggae/dub, very Balkan brass, and very gypsy. Perfect for any kind of party at any time of day!

🎵 🎧 🎵

Mojo Pin - Undone

Mojo Pin is a young American rock band from San Diego, USA. A new band for me. They formed as a grunge revival project in 2023, aiming to revive the sound of the ’90s (Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Soundgarden), with a modern twist and their own ideas. With their captivating performances, they’ve caught the attention of California, and with their latest (third) single, Undone, released this week, they’re already being called “the band to watch.” I’ll definitely be following them to see how far they go.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Iggy Pop - The Passenger - Live at Coachella 2026

I can’t help but share this! Especially when I hear “The Passenger,” in its original version, performed live by the legend Iggy Pop, who has been performing since 1967—that’s a full 59 years. The song is old, it has influenced entire generations, but it’s still fresh and magnificent; Iggy performed it on Monday this week, just two days before his 79th birthday. Well, that’s rock ’n’ roll, and it’s not dead yet.

🎵 🎧 🎵

The Beatles - I Am The Walrus [4K]

Since we’re already in the past, let’s go even deeper! I came across a remastered and resized version of The Beatles’ “I Am The Walrus” from 1967, which was released a week ago. Music lovers probably don’t need me to explain who The Beatles are, right? This is actually a fan-made restored version of the original footage from the film Magical Mystery Tour (1967) with improved sound. The lyrics are complete nonsense; Lennon wrote them on purpose, wanting to confuse all the “philosophers” - from fans to music critics - who had started overanalyzing the Beatles’ lyrics.

🎵 🎧 🎵

The Rolling Stones - That Look (New Single 2026)

Finally, here’s another song where, I admit, I fell for the trick when I saw the title. I really wanted to hear the Rolling Stones' latest single. And it turned out to be AI. The creators (Sounds of the Multiverse) say:

Relax, it’s just AI, and we should all be terrified!

🎶 That should be all for today, thanks for your attention, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!
