New Tunes 🎵 🎸 9.10.2026 🎤🎺

Hello, music lovers! 🎶

Yeah, it's Friday, time for #newtunes!

Let me start by reminding you that this isn’t a music chart of hits, but rather some new music by well-known and lesser-known artists that’s been stuck in my head this week. Maybe one of them will become a global hit? Listen and see for yourself.

🎵 🎧 🎵

MOGWAI feat. IGGY POP - UNDERGROUND

Mogwai, a Scottish rock band from Glasgow, has been making music for 30 years. To date, they have released 11 studio albums. Genre-wise, they fall under post-rock, with mostly instrumental music and noise; vocals are rare and serve more as a kind of backdrop. The song “Underground” was released in late September as a teaser for the compilation Happy Tears, which is set to be released in January of next year. It starts slow and dark, then turns rhythmic and punk-rock-edgy, with Iggy Pop’s prominent vocals and lyrics.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Clutch - Wasted Lands

Clutch is an American band from Germantown that has been playing together since 1991. They have recorded 13 studio albums featuring a fairly consistent blend of hard rock, stoner rock, blues, and metal, with lyrics full of bizarre stories, folklore, and dark humor. “Wasted Lands” is the title track from the album of the same name, set for release in January 2027. It features heavy guitar riffs, a funk-and-blues groove, and rhythmic, almost spoken vocals.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Tele Novella - All Wylde Things

Tele Novella is an American duo from Austin; they’ve been playing since 2013 and have released several EPs and singles, plus three studio albums. They describe themselves as “medieval outsider country”—a mix of baroque pop, indie-folk, psychedelic pop, and a Western twang—and they sound like dusty movie soundtracks with vintage harmonies. The song “All Wylde Things” is their new (second) single this year, a psychedelic track with British weird-folk textures and a Texan Western twist.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Los Bitchos - Hang Up (Pt 2) - w/ Sinkane & Adrian Quesada

Los Bitchos is an international instrumental trio based in London since 2017. To date, they have released two studio albums. Their music blends various global styles and genres, ranging from Argentine cumbia to Anatolian rock, surf, psychedelia, and funk. It’s mostly instrumental, playful, and danceable. The song “Hang Up (Pt2),” released this past summer, signals a new era with guest artists: Sinkane sings, while Quesada adds soul and warmth to the rhythmic guitar, dynamic bass, and cumbia percussion.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Royal Blood - Dead Company

I’ve already mentioned Royal Blood, an English rock duo from Worthing, in #newtunes. They’ve been playing since 2011 and have released four studio albums. Their music blends hard rock with strong blues and garage influences. It’s a minimalist lineup—just drums and bass—but they sound full; the bass, run through effects and amplifiers, even sounds like a guitar. “Dead Company” is a single and the lead track from their fifth, self-titled album, set for release in November. It’s heavy, riff-driven rock with raw, screaming vocals; at times, it reminded me of the White Stripes and QOTSA.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Jesse Welles - Rise and Shine

Jesse Welles is an American singer-songwriter from the Ozarks. He has been performing since 2012, first with the bands Dead Indian and Cosmic American, and as a solo artist since 2024. He has an extensive discography, with more than a dozen releases, including three studio albums under his own name. He plays a mix of folk rock and Americana, usually accompanied only by acoustic guitar, with satirical lyrics about everyday American life. The song “Rise and Shine” was released in late August; it’s not an album single but a protest song and a satirical attack on MAGA and the illusion of the American Dream.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Aaron Frazer - Same Old Game

Aaron Frazer is an American singer, drummer, songwriter, and producer from Baltimore. As a drummer, he has played with Durand Jones & The Indications since 2010, and in 2019 he launched his solo career, releasing two albums to date on the Easy Eye Sound label. As he himself says, he identifies with retro soul and Motown-style R&B, featuring a high falsetto. The song “Same Old Game” is a single from his upcoming EP Corners, still in the retro soul style with a touch of gospel and disco.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Greg Freeman - Loser's Prize - 6

Greg Freeman is a young American singer-songwriter from Burlington who has been performing since 2020. He has released three studio albums featuring a noisy indie sound with touches of Americana and country. “Loser’s Prize” is a single from his latest album, All Set To Bone, released a week ago. It has a slightly raw sound, with distorted guitars, piano, bass, and bluesy vocals that suggest fear of love.

🎶 That should be all for today. Thanks for your attention, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!

One more thing: If you follow me, you may have noticed I’ve started using the service Scrobble.life/Music by @acidyo quite a bit. The service is still under development, but it’s fully integrated with the Hive blockchain—maybe I’ll create my annual playlist there, instead of on Spotify, which I’ve been doing until now. Just being able to listen to the entire song is a huge advantage. :)
