Three Tune Tuesday - Underrated Duos
Hello, music lovers! 🎵
Usually, for #threetunetuesday, I post about bands and songs I listened to growing up that have stuck with me forever. But today will be different. I’ve picked out some newer songs that I think are underrated.
For those of you who aren't (yet) familiar with #threetunetuesday or #ttt: these are the hashtags you need to use when posting. It's a music initiative started by @ablaze, and with his words, the gist is as follows:
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs that I like to listen to, and I invite your feedback in the comments below. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. No matter where I am, I always put together playlists for the music I’m listening to from the sources I use—whether it’s YouTube, Spotify, or Bandcamp, now also Srobble.life by @acidyo. And if there's stuff I listen to over and over, it's the type of music I like.
For today’s #ttt, I’ve selected a few songs from the #newtunes collection by lesser-known duos that I’ve listened to quite a bit this summer. To me personally, they’re superbly performed and produced, yet they’ve gone largely unnoticed by the mainstream music scene—in short, they’re underrated.
Angine de Poitrine – Sherpa | A DADA Film
Angine de Poitrine is a Canadian experimental rock duo. They have been performing since 2019. Like Anonymous, they always perform in masks and Dadaist costumes. I first heard of them last year while watching the KEXP festival in Rennes. Repetitive, mantra-like microtonal and polyrhythmic guitars and drums.
The Shallaras - I put something in your drink
The Shallaras are an international duo based in Berlin, experienced musicians who have been playing together since 2023. Their sound is vintage, old-school, ’50s–’60s rockabilly.
Hermanos Gutiérrez - Los Ojos Del Cóndor
Hermanos Gutiérrez is an instrumental duo from Zurich, with Swiss-Ecuadorian roots. They have been playing since 2015, blending Latin, Andean, and spaghetti-western sounds into atmospheric soundscapes.
And as a bonus, an American alternative pop/electronic duo from Boston.
